National issues..

Throughout our country's evolution, the people have fought for their beliefs and still continue to do so today.  Many of the pioneers of these movements were students, much like you.  Therefore, what are the issues today that you are personally passionate about? What is the issue?

(Mature and intellectual responses only- This is also monitored)

  1. One of today's issues include taxes. When ever i get paid they take off soooooo much from me that I worked hard for. Then half of the time we don't even know what the government uses the money for.

As of 2012, US debt is larger than the size of the economy. The debt ceiling is currently set at $16.394 Trillion and approaching rapidly."

    3. Aren't taxes supposed to normally go to either the army, or families that aren't able to afford things like health, car, and home insurance?

  2. Some of the national issues are racism, sexism, discrimination. People don't ever try to understand what people are made of, like judging a book by its cover. People need to start to giving people a chance.

    1. People do things with out thinking it through but it just proves how crazy this world is.

    2. I agree, people just love to make judgments even though they don't one thing about them. The go off of rumors all the time

    3. I agree with you, because a lot of younger people judge others by what their wearing , where they live or who they hang with. Instead they should judge them when they know them well.

  3. I am personally passionate about believing in what you want to believe, because I've noticed through out history in the world many countries and groups have tried to force a religion in particular on another social system. This ends up in causing issues such as the crusades .

  4. problems in today society are money and beliefs. The government takes money away from peopl for no reason and that leaves them with nothing. They cant afford anything anymore. Also some people have dreams and beliefs, but they cant be achieve because of other people.

  5. My problem with the world is that people with higher power are constantly trying to take advantage of the less fortuanite

  6. If feel that the big issues in the world is when people treat people that aren't just like them like they are nothing, but really they don't know what that person is really like. They judge them on how they look. I HATE when people make fun of my nephew because of having autisms and cleft lip people need to grow up.

  7. A huge issue in the USA is the fact that we continuously let people into our country freely, and that's why we discover new diseases. We should test people from different countries for deadly diseases, so that we do not have an epidemic. Also, I feel that the economic issues could be resolved, but we're too busy thinking about other countries and war. We should just worry about ourselves for a while so that we can fix our problems.

  9. I hate first world problems and the fact that Americans are obsessed with materialistic things. I've seen kids skip school just to get the newest video game or the newest phone. And once they get the phone, they come to school the next day and COMPLAIN about how the phone is too big and how their battery runs out too quickly. They need to know that they should be grateful and know that their problems don't match up to the world's problems. Every time I hear someone complain about something sooo pointless, it makes me want to go back to Philippines more. But then again, me complaining about this makes me one of them....

    1. "They need to know that they should be grateful and know that their problems don't match up to the world's problems."

Such petty things.. Where else in the world do commercials have people pretending to accidentally drop our phones or break them, in order to upgrade.

    2. Pride too. We used to have pride in work and ethics, not in objects and status.

  10. The major national issue that worries me is the bullying. So many kids and teenager are horribly mean to one another and it’s for no apparent reason. Many of the kids who are bullied think and sometimes even commit suicide. Others decide to self harm or do drugs. And then when something happens to those kids who were bullied, each of the bullies write something nice and sweet about them . This society is so messed up its unreal.

    1. Also rising "awareness" for bullying doesn't change anything in my opppion. Bullies will still be mean no matter how many times an adult tells them its wrong, and all the horrible inpacts it had on others.

    2. What about teaching and letting kids fight back?

      Delete
    3. What about preventing bullies from ever becoming them.. THink about what generates one? Something has to happen as a newborn is not genetically programmed to be one!! What can be done to raise good kids more? Why aren't we taking notes on those parents who are raising the genuinely sincere and well moralized kids??

  11. I think a lot of people take things for granted such as their health. I don't know why people make fun of others that have a disability or is less fortunate . They can't help that they may have autism or another disease . Another issue in the world is money . The wealthier sometimes try to take advantage of the less fortunate which I have no idea why.

    1. The rich who take advantage of the less fortunate only do thay because they believe they have power over them because they have more money, which isn't true.

  12. I, personally, am highly passionate about the "Gay Agenda". While I am apart of the LGBT community, it hurts knowing that two men or women are not able to get married. Many people say that allowing two men or women to get married is destroying the sanctity of marriage and tradition. America has grown and changed throughout the years greatly. If we are capable of giving women rights, destroying racial segregation, and taking down slavery, why are we not able to allow people who love each other to have the sanctity of marriage? Soon enough, I believe, that people will finally get over the fact that it may be two men or women and allow them to marry.

    1. People should just mind their own business. I've seen men and women fall out of love so many times, but two people of the same sex can't get married? It's pathetic, how ignorant people can be.

      Delete
    2. Exactly! And when some married couples see two happy men or women, they say that it is "Ruining their marriage" from having to witness people actually be happy with their lives and in their relationships. If a gay marriage is ruining their relationship, it may be that they themselves are gay, and unhappy in the relationship either way.

    3. I feel that more gay/lesbian marriages are more successful than straight marriages. I've never seen a gay couple get a divorce, but I've seen numerous straight couples fall apart quickly.

      Delete
    4. Whether a realtion is suessful truly depends on the personality of a relationship, not the "gender." But this isn't the issue. No one, straight/ gay should ever feel te need to justify their relationship to society.

I believe, though the reason why many argue the "sanctity of marriage" is at risk, it is more so for those who believe in marriage as Christian ritual versus a legal one.

  13. I know there i still people who are racist toward black people even though that was an issues long again it still it today. Not all black people are treated equally in America.

    1. That is so true! But what really makes me angry is when adults are racist and teach their kids to be that way too.

      Delete
    2. And there is how racism is kept alive.. Some believe too that since racism is still "taught" in classes, that it also keeps it alive.. Do you think this is true? COnsider what is covered in history classes? Does it "keep alive" the cruelty that was committed in our past, or does it focus on revolution of the abolition of racism?

  14. A topic I feel passionate about is children. I feel the issue is that people just have children and don’t take care of them like they should. They are just adults with kids instead of mothers and fathers and caregivers. People don’t always peg me as a child-lover or preschool teacher but behind the scenes I love kids and take care of babies and children and give them happiness and joy. To be a parent that just feeds their kids and sends them to school and puts clothes on their back are missing love, fun and encouragement to their kids. But I applaud the parents that take their jobs as mothers and fathers and give unconditional love to their kids.

    1. It starts so early too. Parents are either forced to go back to work so early as 6 weeks after their child is born, but that means that a 6 WEEK old is away from parents everyday for the rest of his or her life!! THen again. why or IS this parent forced to do this?

Kids are forced to grow up so fast.

  15. An issue of today that I am personally passionate about is the fact that schools treat kids with disabilities like they're trash. Seeing teachers lie to the parents face about what they do with their child makes me so upset! I don't understand why people feel they can treat them like crap and get away with it. If they were to have recorders in classrooms to record what they say, the school and all of the teachers would be getting sued for discrimination.
